Primer Examen nacional voluntario de Guatemala 2017

El examen nacional voluntario que hoy se presenta pretende mostrar al mundo en qué punto del camino se encuentra el país y cuánto hace falta para la implementación de la agenda de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS). En este sentido, como podrá apreciarse en el capítulo I, luego de la adopción de la agenda, Guatemala comenzó un proceso de apropiación nacional que tuvo sus rasgos particulares, aunque sin perder de vista lo establecido en la declaración Transformar nuestro mundo: la Agenda 2030 para el desarrollo sostenible, en la cual se establece que cada país definirá las estrategias y los mecanismos, además de los procesos de concertación y diálogo multi-actores que considere más convenientes para articular los objetivos, metas e indicadores con la visión de desarrollo de largo plazo.

Tras asumir las lecciones aprendidas y los resultados alcanzados en el seguimiento de los ODM, y consciente de que la agenda de los ODS es muy ambiciosa y compleja, Guatemala decidió realizar un proceso de socialización, consulta, validación y análisis técnico, de manera que la nueva agenda se adecuara al contexto, realidad y posibilidades del país y, más importante, se articulara con el Plan nacional de desarrollo K’atun: Nuestra Guatemala 2032. Este proceso de apropiación nacional se dispuso de conformidad con lo establecido por el Consejo Nacional de Desarrollo Urbano y Rural (Conadur) en la Estrategia de articulación de la agenda de Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible con el Plan y la Política nacional de desarrollo K’atun: Nuestra Guatemala 2032.

First Voluntary National Review of Guatemala 2017

The voluntary national review presented today aims to show the world where the country is on the road and how far it still needs to go to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda. In this sense, as will be seen in Chapter I, after the adoption of the agenda, Guatemala began a process of national ownership that had its own particular features, although without losing sight of the provisions of the declaration Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which states that each country will define the strategies and mechanisms, as well as the processes of consultation and multi-stakeholder dialogue that it considers most appropriate to articulate the goals, targets and indicators with the long-term development vision.

After taking on board the lessons learned and the results achieved in monitoring the MDGs, and aware that the SDG agenda is very ambitious and complex, Guatemala decided to carry out a process of socialization, consultation, validation and technical analysis, so that the new agenda would be adapted to the context, reality and possibilities of the country and, most importantly, would be articulated with the National Development Plan K'atun: Our Guatemala 2032. This process of national ownership was arranged in accordance with what was established by the National Council for Urban and Rural Development (Conadur) in the Strategy for the articulation of the Sustainable Development Goals agenda with the National Development Plan and Policy K'atun: Our Guatemala 2032.
